Aerodynamic optimisation of a 150 m wind turbine
My thesis asked how tightly wind turbines can be packed, starting with how close a second can sit behind the first. Full-rotor transient CFD in ANSYS Fluent, 47 simulations and a fitted formula put it at five rotor diameters inline, for 89.6% combined yield.
